High-Protein Chocolate Mousse – Creamy, Rich & Easy Thermomix Recipe: If you love chocolate but still want something that feels a little lighter and more filling, this high-protein chocolate mousse is definitely worth trying. It’s smooth, creamy, chocolatey and incredibly easy to make in the Thermomix.
I love recipes like this because they don’t require complicated ingredients or a lot of preparation. You can make it ahead of time, chill it in the fridge and have a delicious dessert ready whenever you want something sweet.
The texture is beautifully creamy, while Greek yogurt and protein powder help make it more satisfying than a traditional chocolate mousse. You can also adjust the sweetness and chocolate flavour to suit your own taste.
🍫 Ingredients
- 250 g Greek yogurt
- 200 g cottage cheese
- 30 g chocolate protein powder
- 20 g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 30–40 g honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 80 g milk of your choice
- 80 g dark chocolate, roughly chopped
- 1 small pinch of salt
Optional toppings
- Fresh berries
- Banana slices
- Chocolate shavings
- Chopped nuts
- Peanut butter
- A light dusting of cocoa powder
- Coconut flakes
👩🍳 Method
- Melt the chocolate
Place the chopped dark chocolate into the Thermomix bowl.
Mix for 5 seconds / Speed 7 to break the chocolate into smaller pieces.
Scrape down the sides of the bowl with the spatula.
Add the milk and heat for approximately 2 minutes / 50°C / Speed 2, or until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth.
Be careful not to overheat the chocolate. You only need enough heat to melt it gently.
- Add the creamy ingredients
Once the chocolate mixture has cooled slightly, add the Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract and a small pinch of salt.
Blend for approximately 30 seconds / Speed 6.
Stop and scrape down the sides if needed, then blend again for another 20–30 seconds / Speed 7.
The mixture should become thick, smooth and creamy.
If you prefer an extra-smooth mousse, blend for another 20 seconds. The cottage cheese should completely disappear into the mixture.
- Check the texture
Have a quick taste and adjust it according to your preference.
If you want it sweeter, add a little more honey or maple syrup.
If you want a stronger chocolate flavour, add another teaspoon of cocoa powder.
If the mousse seems too thick, add a small splash of milk and blend again briefly.
Remember that the mousse will become thicker after chilling in the refrigerator.
- Chill the mousse
Divide the mixture between four small glasses, bowls or dessert cups.
Cover and place them in the refrigerator for at least 1–2 hours.
For the best texture, I like to let it chill for several hours. It becomes thicker, colder and even more mousse-like as it rests.
If you are preparing it for guests, you can make it the night before and keep it refrigerated until serving.
❤️ Easy Flavour Variations
One of the best things about this recipe is how easy it is to change the flavour.
🥜 Peanut Butter Chocolate
Add 1–2 tablespoons of smooth peanut butter to the Thermomix with the other ingredients.
The combination of chocolate and peanut butter makes the mousse extra rich and delicious.
You can also swirl a tiny amount of peanut butter over the top before serving.
☕ Mocha Chocolate
For a coffee version, add 1 teaspoon of instant coffee powder or espresso powder.
The coffee doesn’t need to make the mousse taste strongly of coffee. Instead, it can make the chocolate flavour taste deeper and richer.
🍊 Chocolate Orange
Add 1 teaspoon of finely grated orange zest to the mixture.
For an even stronger orange flavour, you can add a tiny amount of orange extract.
Chocolate and orange make a lovely combination, especially when served with a few dark chocolate shavings.
🍓 Berry Chocolate
Top the finished mousse with fresh strawberries, raspberries or blueberries.
The fresh berries add a little sweetness and freshness against the rich chocolate mousse.
🍫 Serving Ideas
This mousse is delicious straight from the refrigerator, but a few simple toppings can make it look extra special.
Try adding a few fresh raspberries, some shaved dark chocolate and a small spoonful of Greek yogurt.
You could also add chopped almonds or hazelnuts for some crunch.
For a dessert-party presentation, spoon the mousse into small glasses and decorate each one individually. A little cocoa powder sprinkled over the top can make a simple homemade dessert look surprisingly elegant.
🧊 Storage
Keep the mousse covered in the refrigerator.
It is best enjoyed within 2–3 days.
Because the recipe contains dairy ingredients, keep it chilled and do not leave it sitting at room temperature for a long time.
If the mousse becomes firmer after refrigeration, simply give it a gentle stir before serving.
💡 Helpful Tips
Use thick Greek yogurt if possible because it gives the mousse a creamier and thicker consistency.
Choose a protein powder that you already enjoy the taste of. Different protein powders can vary quite a lot in sweetness and texture, so you may need to adjust the amount of sweetener.
Don’t add too much milk at once. Start with the amount in the recipe and only add more if the mixture needs loosening.
If your protein powder is already quite sweet, you may not need much honey or maple syrup.
For a deeper chocolate flavour, use good-quality unsweetened cocoa powder and dark chocolate.
And if you want the smoothest possible mousse, make sure you blend the cottage cheese thoroughly.
❤️ Final Thoughts
This high-protein chocolate mousse is one of those easy recipes that feels much more indulgent than the effort involved. It’s creamy, rich, chocolatey and can be prepared in just a few simple steps using the Thermomix.
